Resistor
I am working on a project that requires a 01005 surface mount resistor (0.4mm x 0.2mm). This is obviously very small and impossible to hand mount, therefore, I need to hire a company to pick and place. Is this something I can accomplish using DipTrace? Can DipTrace model resistors that size? I tried using the pattern editor and the grid does not seem to get small enough. The silk screen lines cover the resistor pads completely. Maybe that doesn't matter? Any insight would be appreciated.
Re: Resistor
You can set any custom grid size through the main menu View → Grid Size → Custom.
The silkscreen line width is set from the context menu Properties → Custom Width.
In the Pattern Editor, there is an option to automatically generate a footprint and a 3D model.
To do this, go to the Pattern Properties panel and select Style → IPC-7351.
Then choose the appropriate package family and enter the device dimensions from the datasheet.
