Recreating PCB file

#1 Post by LarryA » 09 May 2025, 21:03

I have been using DIPTrace for many years, and I have a design for which I have the Gerber, drill, and the schematic files.
Is there any way I can recreate the PCB (.dip) file from these files? Some of my designs have been mistakenly deleted  .

Thanks for any help!

You can import Gerber and drill files in PCB Layout. But this won't recover original PCB design in full. You will get many shapes, pads and holes but won't get them as components, nets, traces and copper pours.

I figured out a way but it is tedious ... I create a new board, update from the schematic, import the silk and copper layers as non-active layers, and reroute all the copper.
