Diptrace Step file issue

#1 Post by dougsShaw » 25 Mar 2025, 04:54

Hello,
I'm working with a step file exported from Diptrace (PCB Layout software). I create the 3D model in Diptrace (looks fine) and then export it as a STEP file. I need to import this into OnShape for further work (enclosure)

I can import the file - but there are some errors in topography. The PCB lacks a top, so it looks like a baking tray - all of the holes etc show up ok. The file opens correctly in Pro E and Solidworks. I have checked with DipTrace support and they advise there is nothing wrong with the step file.

I have read up on correcting topology errors in OnShape - but not found any solution that works so far.

Has anyone else encountered these sorts of issues - or have a solution to offer?

I didn't know that 3D modules could be made in diptrace?

You can create rudimentary 3D models in the Pattern Editor using its IPC-7351 pattern generator.
