Combining two designs into one board

#1 Post by dieterv » 07 Jun 2024, 08:56

Hi,

I have a couple of pcb's that are used in a robotic system.

Due to EOL of some external component I had to add functionality (a 24V -> 48V and PoE). I've first made a prototype board with the DCDC and Ethernet to test that everything works.
Now I want to add the DCDC and Ethernet part on another, existing, board.

I would like to avoid having to redo the routing which is rather finicky (and to be honest, routing still isn't Diptrace best part for me).

I can copy/paste the schematic in to the target board design, but how do I copy the layout then?

I think this is a scenario that happens rather often, imagine you have a DCDC section that you know works with a given layout, you do not want to redo the routing every project.

Thanks!
