More friendly way to bulk rename, auto increment or auto rename the netports 'Connector Name' ?

#1 Post by Ton Zandbergen » 30 May 2023, 23:27

Hi There,
Using Diptrace 4.3.0.4 Full with fun.
However I'm struggling with netports in general as I would expect more friendly ways to name or rename them.

See picture.
I've copied the same circuit multiple times. All the Refdes automatically increments which is fine but is there a more friendly way to bulk rename, auto increment or auto rename the netports 'Connector Name'.
It is very time consuming to double click them one by one getting the popup menu go to the right field, backspace the current name and type in the new name and increment the number en repeat that 60 times.

Like PWM1...12 for the first circuit, PWM13-24 for the second circuit, PWM25-36 for the third, PWM37-48 for the fourth and PWM49-60 for the fift circuit.
Are there other / quicker ways of bulk renaming the netports 'Connector Name' ?

If "PWM1, PWM2, PWM3, etc..." are true DipTrace netports, then copying/pasting those circuits has most likely connected all identically-named netports together; which means U61(6), U62(6), U63(6), etc. are shorted to each other. This can be tested by hovering the mouse cursor over each net to see if the same pins/nets on the other ICs light up.

Yes these are true Diptrace netports and yes they are shorted to each other after copy/paste the same diagram multiple times.

I was wondering if there is a faster way to make them unique like attached picture where I had to click 60 times on each port to give it a new unique name which was quite time consuming.
For example it would be nice if netports connector names could also auto increment like refdes on copy/paste the same cicuit.

Not to my knowledge.

I really hope there will be a feature in near future to rename all netlabels with the same name at once.
Or do I miss something?
