Showing shielded cable and Coax in schematic

#1 Post by steve_w » 01 Feb 2015, 17:23

Is there a way of displaying shielded cable in schematic?

In particular showing grounds on the shielded cable?

Isn't this a simple matter of creating your own schematic symbol? Usually, shielded cable is shown as a line with a circle around it; the circle having a line to a ground connection.

Yeah,

Thats what I am doing now and that works for most schematics, but in some instances you want to show detail of how earthing is done to avoid ground loops and the like. I was drawing up a cabling schematic for my brothers gyrocopter VHF radio. I wanted to shop him how to terminate the grounds for the radio audio in accordance with the manufacturers installation instructions. Which is NOT chassis ground. The job is done and dusted and I just wondered if other people had had this problem and there was an easy solution.

Thanks for your reply
