In previous versions of Diptrace, I was able to use 3d preview without a problem.
With 4.1.2, if I set Graphics Mode to "Direct3D", 3D preview in PCB Layout either hangs with high CPU use on "Creating 3D board" or takes a very long time to render even a board with a single component.
If I set Graphics Mode to "OpenGL", 3D preview is fast and smooth. HOWEVER, 2D graphics don't work: you can't see a component when you try to place it, and the drawing area's scroll bars don't work.
I am running Mac OS Catalina, 10.15.7.
OS X Graphics Issues with 4.1.2
Re: OS X Graphics Issues with 4.1.2
We tried DipTrace 4.1.2 on Mac OS Big Sur. Direct3D mode works fast and smooth in 2D and 3D, OpenGL doesn't work. You should use Direct3D mode and you can update drivers of video card if you have hangs in 3D mode. If that doesn't help please send your board and custom 3D models for verification if any are used on the board.
Re: OS X Graphics Issues with 4.1.2
same problem here with Catalina, impossible to have rendering working!

Re: OS X Graphics Issues with 4.1.2
Must be a Catalina issue.
A workaround is to switch to OpenGL for 3d preview, then switch back to Direct3D when done.

Exact same issue with Big Sur 11.4.
Diptrace v4.1.3.1
Processor: 2,3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB
OpenGL is slow, but better than hanging.. So OpenGL for 3d preview, then switch back to Direct3D when done..

..and Export STEP does not work even with OpenGL..
Re: OS X Graphics Issues with 4.1.2
We have developed an option of different graphics modes for 2D and 3D. It will appear in the next version and it should solve the problem.
