Copper Pour Thermal Spoke Width as Percentage

#1 Post by ReverseEMF » 19 Sep 2020, 19:49

It would be nice if larger pads had larger Thermal Spokes, etc. Right now [ver 4.0.0.5] there only appears to be constant width as an option.

In other words, I would like to be able to set the Thermal Spoke With for surface mount pads to, say, 20%. That way, a 30 mil, square pad will be given four 6mm Thermals, and a 50mm diameter round pad will be given 10mm Thermals. Perhaps, also, the Thermals width would automatically be limited to the minimum Trace Width specified in the active Design Rules -- stuff like that.
If left to evolution, would this PCB ever design itself, and what would the lead time be on that?

Thank you for suggest. For now we don't plan to do it.
To work around you can turn off the thermals for current pad
(pad context menu - Thermal Settings - Use Custom Settings - Connect - No).
After that draw the shapes (in signal layer) between pad and copper pour.
