Pattern Name Nomenclature

#1 Post by craigfoo » 03 Feb 2021, 05:28

I'm working with 4.1 Beta and I'm creating a component and would like to use one of the built-in SOT23-6 packages. I'm a bit confused about the pattern names. I found this guide but it doesn't explain what the name means, https://diptrace.com/books/Pattern_names_help.pdf.

For Example: SOT23-6P95_280X145L45X40M_AD1
  • SOT - Got it!
  • 23 - Yep!
  • 6 - Mmhmm, number of pins
  • P95 - 0.95mm pitch, got it
  • 280X145L45X40M_AD1 - Wut?
I thought maybe 280 (2.80mm?) might be the distance between left and right pads, center to center...nope. Then I thought it might be in mils...nope. What does 280 represent? Also the rest of it, 145L45X40M_AD1. Any guidance here? Thanks!

We added pattern description in version 4.1. Right click on pattern name from the list on the left side and select "Show Pattern Description". It decodes pattern name.

Ah yes, you did, nice! Now I'm understanding that the description and measurements are talking about the actual IC that goes on the pads and not the pattern itself. Right?
