Stopping the router from running tracks under an IC ?

#1 Post by bobselby1949 » 08 Jul 2020, 15:45

I am laying out a board where I am using isolator chips and need to stop the router from running tracks under them.

I gather the term is a "keep out" but I've been unable to find how to create one (yes I'm a newbie!!).

Can someone please point me in the right direction, perhaps a tutorial ??

Best regards,
Bob

From the drawing tools icon in the menu bar select a shape. I selected "Filled Rectangle" for this example.

Draw the shape on the PCB where it needs to be.

Right click on the shape and select "Properties" from the context menu.
In the "Type:" drop down select "Route Keepout"
SELECT_ROUTE_KEEPOUT.jpg

From the "Layer:" drop down select the layer you want the keepout to be on. I selected Top here.

To have the keepout apply to all layers, select the checkbox "All Layers"
