BOM issue with Layout

#1 Post by jom » 16 Jul 2021, 05:06

Hello

Is it possible to place a component on a schematic for the purpose of it showing up on the BOM without it being used in the Layout? I have a board that involves tuning with some caps. I don't want the pad pattern to show up in the layout but the caps should show up in the BOM, which I derive from the schematic. The cap can't show up in the layout due to the placement being decided during tuning so it can't be at a fixed location.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You can add in Schematic a component without attached pattern. In result, the component will be added to schematic's BOM but won't appear in PCB Layout because it doesn't have pattern.
