Missing components and patterns from libraries in v4

#1 Post by i_ionut » 09 Jun 2020, 03:27

Hi,

Sorry if someone posted the same question in other place, but I can't find it at search.

In v4 the libraries seems to have lost some usual components and patterns at recategorization.

I have no ideea how many of those has been lost, at first search it appears that there are no components like linear voltage regulators (with a very few exception) and no patterns like DPAK/TO252/TO-252 or D2PAK/TO263/TO-263. Those previously existed in the v3 in standard libraries.

I did a fresh reinstall of v4 (previous was installed over v3), to no avail.

I know I can create others from scratch, but it would be useful to get them back, they speeds the design process.

Thank you!

Here is a workaround for the issue, if you don't want to write known components from scratch:

- From https://diptrace.com/download/older-versions/ download the zip file with v3 libraries (at the bottom of page).
- Unzip it to a folder at your convenience (I prefer to keep the original name, to differentiate it from other personal libraries; so I have Lib_3.X and Lib_4.X).
- In Schematics go to Library - Library Setup - groups User Components and User Patterns. On each of them add the folder where you unziped the v3 libraries.

Now you can use the old libraries.

We recently completed to redesign DPAK library. It will be available in the next build.
Also, you can use Pattern Generator to create the most common patterns.
Just open Pattern Editor, switch the Style to IPC-7351, run Pattern Generator, enter the device dimensions from datasheet and push "Calculated" + "OК". The pattern is ready.

I tried the IPC-7351 package generator using a Vishay TO-263 (D2Pak): 3-Lead package information sheet, available at https://www.vishay.com/docs/71198/71198.pdf. The package generator generated a package with two long pads for the smaller leads for the gate and source (assuming a SUM110P04 MOSFET, https://www.vishay.com/docs/73493/73493.pdf) and no pad for the drain. I tried entering the IPC-7351 dimensions twice, and got the same results both times.

The IPC-7351 recovery code generated by the package generator was:
[Y;DPAK;1;N;N;0;0;609;Y;Y;N;N;101;Vishay;VISHAY|3;5.08;;;4.826;;;0.508;0.749;0.99;0.241;-
.241;8.636;9.144;9.652;0.508;-0.508;5.588;5.842;6.096;0.254;-0.254;0.965;1.016;1.067;0.05
;-0.051;9.652;10.033;10.414;0.381;-0.381;;;6.223;;;14.605;15.24;15.875;0.635;-0.635;;2.54;;;
0.2;12.76;1.6;0.01;6.45|3;|N;;;;;;;;;0.5;0.5;0.5|N;;;|||||||||||||4934475;15461355;16119285;Y

Subsequently, I unchecked "Use Calculated Package Dimensions" and checked "Use Pattern Dimensions Recommended by Manufacturer" and entered the dimensions from the AN826 page of https://www.vishay.com/docs/73493/73493.pdf. That resulted in a footprint/pattern that makes sense.
