Given Many people put Logos etc on PCB silks, Im surprised this hasn't been highlighted more

( and two other places where I mention graphics that are described as on the Top silk get covered up and cant be seen , this " bug" has been in DIptrace for years at this stage
There is a problem with displaying pictures in OpenGL/DirectX as they are displayed using textures, all other objects use triangles and it is not possible to combine that two on the same layer and keep normal speed, so pictures and all other objects are drawn separately.

But we already changed this for upcoming major update. The picture is vectorized at once when you place it and then is displayed as set of polygons in the particular layer, not texture (at the same time you may keep proportions, rotate it to any angle and change anchor point), also vector picture is saved together with all design into the same file. See screen-shots of placing picture and properties in the current development version:

Upcoming version includes many improvements and redesign of some existing key features, so it will take some time to complete it and test all things.
Another screen-shot of new pattern editor with demo of some new features:

oh my oh my...
  • Centered text
  • Courtyard and component outline (what's top/bottom terminals?)
  • Rectangular pad with rounded edges, and D-shaped pad
  • Ability to turn layer on/off
The pattern editor is getting a lot of ❤️

STOP the teaser and give us tickets to your demo program already 😁

btw, will there be updated documentation on the new library file format?

This is one of the highest priority feature, but I can not promise that.
Currently we are optimizing program for IPC7351 standard, so all those features are added (also all our new libraries are developed for that standard, so we do not include them into 3.3 yet).
Just to be clear this is not something you will get in a month. This version is in development and next major release is not very soon.

The new pattern editor looks very nice, the courtyard is a needed feature IMO.

Now that the pattern editor is being reworked, I would also consider the option of defining the position of the RefDes in the Silkscreen and Assembly independently, so the footprint is charged with these configuration in the PCB Layout.

I posted viewtopic.php?f=18&t=12801 then read this post-> DipTrace, PLEASE add the ability to place VIA's in pattern editor and Copy Array and Offset Pads!
We need a means to provide thermal relief and to create rectangular thru hole pads with the hole offset and finally casltellated pads and of course the casltellated pad needs to work with DRC.

+1, and the ability to add other marking fields as required
