DipTrace Tutorial.pdf

I'm trying to learn a free-copy of DipTrace before buying full software package. I use DipTrace Tutorial. pdf. So far, I got through 45 pages and found very difficult to follow instructions. My inner is trying to find any reason not to go back to Tutorial. One of the main issue _there is no accent by Font and/or Style for descriptions of major steps (what Icon to use for described feature, etc.). Very difficult to return back to the same place in Tutorial switching attention between Tutorial and actual PCB. It is like a "river" of words without end. Names are not consistence. The same objects are repeated with different names.

I realize a lot of effort to write this Tutorial. In my opinion, the Tutorial needs a review of both, Semantic and Writing Style. I was very impressed with the Video on your site and expected similar clarity in Tutorial. Tutorial is very important document for people new to DipTrace! Hope my suggestions will appear in this Forum.

There are some CMOS CD4000 series chips in component library... but not most of the series are there. I am interested in 7 segment decoders at the moment, and some are CD4026, CD4033, C4511, 74C48 are missing. There are many others like CD4066, CD 4067, CD4027, CD4028, CD4029. Any chance of including in Component library?
Thanks

Try looking for the base numbers. Many vendors made similar chips. For example instead of CD4511 look for 4511 and you'll get a match in the MC14511 in various footprints.

IEC 60617 symbols with Status = "Released" and Application class = "Circuit diagrams" at least
- as it's worldwide accepted standard, backed by respective (multi)national standards like CA CSI, Multinational IEEE, RU ГОСТ/GOST, UK BSI, US ANSI etc. (sorry for not mentioning others, guess they exist and can be searched in respective countries/languages)

(note the default resistor and capacitor symbols used by DipTrace have status "Withdrawn" with date of withdrawal: 1996-06 - quarter of century ago!)

(*) maybe symbol versioning can be implemented somehow? - so the user can replace new symbols with old ones or vise versa?

(**) maybe symbols can be "internationalized" somehow? - for example right now capacitors "CAP..." from "Capacitors...", "Конд ..." from "УГО ГОСТ" and "CAP" from "Objects Symbol EIC" all have different looks and sizes.

(***) not sure, but maybe symbols and schematics can be made scaleable and related to grids used? IEC 60617 refers symbols to grid, not to imperial or metric units.

Might be useful to display Library in list of components found as well as part number.

An updated list of Microprocessors would help.
Several which are now available are not located in DipTrace, and it not's overly difficult to add them manually, but would be nice to have a full list of new parts.

Female headers to match the male breakaway headers already suggested.

Preferably multiple combinations of them, e.g.
1x1 1x2 1x3 .. 1x12
2x1 2x2 2x3 .. 2x12
3x1 3x2 3x3 .. 3x12

Have to produce a 2-layer PCB with the Top layer Silkscreen, Bottom copper tracks, and pour. Firstly Diptrace says that the bottom color must be a reduced color opposed to the top color. Mine are the reverse way around - how do I change this? I am new to using Gerber files, looking through from the top side, the bottom layer looks the same. Do I assume that the Greber file for the bottom layer must NOT be "Mirrored" am I correct? Only text on the bottom must show through in a reversed mode.
I am 83 years old and have a problem understanding the technique of Gerber files.
