Repair my Beovox S45 loudspeaker

#1 Post by Santoni49 » 11 Nov 2017, 22:22

Hi,

I would like to repair my beovox S45 speaker and would like to use this ( https://www.icrfq.com/part/330882-TVA1803_1_E3.html ) aluminum polarization 16UF 475V AXIAL capacitors. I am not sure their AC signal is available or not.
Has anyone already repaired on S45? I need your advice, I do not know what kind of capacitors to use, and I do not know if I have to replace them all. Can you please help me?

Thanks.

That part is currently $11.47ea at Newark (element 14). Have you considered using a non-polarized film capacitor; specifically a metalized polypropylene? (see this web page for more information about their advantages and disadvantages - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_capacitor). In my opinion, polypropylenes are a better choice for audio circuits due to low dielectric absorption, low ESR/ESL and linear behavior over a wide frequency range. If the thought of using film capacitors for a little less money appeals to you, 16uF/400V Solen metalized polypropylene caps (PB1600) can be had for about $9ea (Canadian) here - https://solen.ca/products/capacitors/fa ... ne/pb1600/.
