Hidden characters in .eli file names

#1 Post by auto-mation-assist » 29 Mar 2023, 04:53

I have noticed that if copy and paste part numbers from Mouser or Digikey are pasted into components and saved by that name as a .eli file hidden characters contained in the name will be saved in the file name. DipTrace itself can handle the hidden characters, but when other software is used access those files it reports that it it cannot locate the file. One such software is UltraISO used to burn CD's. It will give an error message while burning that it can not open the file and reports the error and places a ? mark either in front of the file name, after it or both, before and after the name depending on where the hidden character is located.

When clicking on such a file and using rename and moving the mouse courser to the front of the name and pushing the delete button will show that it deletes the unknown hidden character if it exists and will not delete the first letter of the file name. The same can be done at the last character cater in the file name.

I think that a modification needs to be made that prevents potential hidden characters to be saved as part of any file name.
