Re: Eagle import error - "number of layers in the manufacturing rules..."

That worked, thanks! Well, it worked partially, at least. It imported 16 individual copper layers, though, and melds the silk and copper together on the 16th (bottom) layer, with 14 in-between layers just containing vias. I can't make out how you came up with that formula or determined there are 16 ...

Re: Eagle import error - "number of layers in the manufacturing rules..."

That doesn't help. It gives the same error with that obscure formula keyed in - both directly into the file via Notepad++, or via Eagle. I tried that, along with everything else I could find, long before posting here. Actually more than a little bristled that you say it so confidently, "the answer",...

Eagle import error - "number of layers in the manufacturing rules..."

Hi! Try taking this file from Adafruit: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/adafruit/Adafruit-ESP32-HUZZAH-Breakout-PCB/master/Adafruit%20ESP32%20Huzzah%20Breakout.brd Try importing it. Starting with the error about " The number of layers in the manufacturing rules does not match the number of layers ...

Re: Net ports

+1. Net ports are confusing and broken as heck. I came here Googling this specific problem. I'm finding most of my frustration with Diptrace currently centered around how to take a segment and join it to another one, where wires are "hidden" for a specific connection - and Schematic editor doesn't a...

Re: Prevent Pattern's mounting holes from being plated

Odd, I was working on constructing a test/demo case here, and I found it wasn't actually the copper layer that was being messed-with. Of course that's not a solution because I don't know how fabs could accept two files. They only accept one drill file, and they classify "plated" as if there's copper...

Prevent Pattern's mounting holes from being plated

If I put a Mounting Hole (with the Mounting Hole tool) in a Pattern, like so... (oh, right, it's 2003 and this forum doesn't support posting inline images :) ) Erm, okay, so we're going to be writing blind, then. Just trust me on this one. If I place a Mounting Hole in a pattern, it comes out plated...

Re: Net colors in PCB layout: this was done, but how?

AHH, THAT WAS IT! Alex, for the win. The very key component is that you can't find this submenu when clicking a copper fill or a Via - only a pad or a trace. Being as I was mostly working with colored copper fills, that was the problem - there are no traces and few pads, mostly via's. ;) Got it now....

The new Firefox, but seriously? It's on imgur. The file was saved from Paint as a .png. That last one was 76.4KB.

Re: Net colors in PCB layout: this was done, but how?

(somewhat OT, but the images I posted were 110KB (the side by side one) and 15.3KB (the single one) - you should always use PNG for solid-color graphics, and JPG for photos or smoothed/gradients. Here, PNG is perfect! But it still couldn't take. Where'd you get 2MB from? As for the process, I first ...

Net colors in PCB layout: this was done, but how?

I've got an odd problem. A layout was done by a former coworker, and he apparently did something magical here: https://imgur.com/6Z2IM8a Old layout is on the right; new layout is on the left. The green area is the GND net. On layer 3, for example, there's this magic happening: https://imgur.com/ifR9...
