Re: Net Confusion

I have a resistor in my Layout that is Net3 at both ends. Is this correct?
It is if they are connected to each other with a wire (schematic) or trace/ratline (PCB).

Re: Exporting DXF of traces and copper shapes (cleanly)?

FYI, here is Wikipedia's take on DXF - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AutoCAD_DXF
Apparently, DXF has had many revisions over the years. For example, the latest version supported by QCAD is R27 (introduced in 2023?). It looks like DipTrace exports DXF version R11/R12 (introduced in 1992?).

Re: Compound Patterns?

As far as I know, it is not possible to save compound components to the pattern library (DipTrace v5.1.0.3).

I agree with you, but I think we need to cut them a little slack. Their home town is now experiencing drone attacks and people are dying.

Re: Exporting DXF of traces and copper shapes (cleanly)?

The DXF file format is not very robust when it comes to transferring graphics information. When I tried transferring a Top copper layer to QCAD via DXF it looked very close to the original (rounded edges and clean circles), but some teardrops showed up as outlines. When editing the drawing it got a ...

Re: Trace colors

As far as preventing it from automatically transferring the net colors to the PCB, I am not aware of a switch that would disable this behavior. Maybe there is one somewhere? However, a quick workaround while in the PCB editor would be to select all ( Ctrl + A ), right-click on one of the traces and ...

Re: copper pour option change

I see no change in behavior between the two existing options. Is there a video that demonstrates the differences?

copper pour option change

There seems to be no difference between the two copper pour border options " Depending on Board " and " Snap to Board Outline ". A more useful function for " Depending on Board " would be to change its name to " Trim to Board Outline ". When selected it should trim the part of the copper pour that ...

Re: Behavior of multiple copper pours on one layer

Glad to be able to help. Unfortunately, there is no way for DipTrace to know where one pour needs to end and the other needs to start; it must be defined manually. However, I'm not too keen on DipTrace automatically shorting the two nets together; even with the warning. Perhaps that was the safest ...

Re: Behavior of multiple copper pours on one layer

As far as I can tell, it looks like you will have to manually edit the pours. If so, here's one way to do it in the example you provided...

1) Left pour: Pour Priority = 1 , enable [x]Depending on Board , click on OK , ignore the short circuit warning by clicking on OK one more time.
2) Unpour ...
