Hi,

Pls refer the attached file, which is a PCB layout designed by a friend of mine using Eagle S/w. I am unable to do design the same using DipTrace PCB program. I don't want to use Eagle EDA. Could you pls suggest how to layout trace with custom shapes as highlighted or in-circled in red in the image attached.

Please note that I am able to layout simple trace including different sizes but not in the same way as shown in the attached image. Many times we need to do so make an effective PCB.

Pls suggest?

Regards,
Pradip

Trace width I tried, it doesn't work. Copper pour also doesn't work even when I poured with the option called connected with given net/trace. I pours copper but gives gaps between the trace/nets.

if you have got any working solution, request to share the same.

Why do you need trace if you have copper pour? Anyway, there shouldn't be a gap between trace and copper pour if they belong to the same net. Please send PCB file to support at diptrace dot com.

pradipkhare - it is bad form to ask a question and then not share your solution. Please advise what you did to get your desired result, especially if it is different than the suggestions from PineApple or Alex.

Thanks Hatallica, to remind me to put the solution and they are:-

They were two solutions that I found: -

A) Use the connected copper pour. This allows you to pour the copper in the shape you want and then use the connectivity property to associate the trace. However there small issues: 1) You need to do multiple pours, which may cause problems in multi-layers routing and when you want to change PCB layout. 2) When you change the connected trace color than the standard and, would like to print PCB transfer image in Black & White, still on the image generated, Copper pour comes out of the trace color and not the black and white. See the attached Image. 3) when you change trace side and direction or placement, you need to repeat the process again.

B) Use the copper pour without connectivity- Use zero margin value in all three spacing fields in the property box of the copper pour.

However, both the solutions are not perfect. They both increase complexity, and makes PCB layout to be less flexible. That's why I wanted to Tech-Support to suggest a flexible solution. But I was able to do design a simple PCB in better way, so feel happy.

Hope this helps?
