Is it really necessary to break format with every new release? I just downloaded the new beta on my laptop, and my desktop (v 2.2)can't use any of the files I worked with. Isn't there a way to preserve some backwards compatibility? The overall layout of the file could surely accommodate forward changes that could be ignored by previous releases, perhaps?

I see that is in the beta, so I guess this is already done.

We add many features in every version and have to change file format. But you can export files to DipTrace ASCII format and import ASCII files in older versions.
