Land pattern update from library

#1 Post by oleg » 25 Jul 2012, 03:45

What is recommended strategy for land patterns update, when some of them were changed in the library?
They should be updated in corresponding schematic library, in schematic and, finally, in PCB layout.
Is it possible to automate this process? I afraid to miss something doing this by hand.

Update pattern for components in Component editor, update components in schematic, then renew layout from schematic.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to automate this process.

It will be great to have this feature in the next versions. Actually the main problem is bulk patterns update for components library. It was already mentioned here:

3 years later... and I'm having to manually update each bloody component. I shouldn't even have to. Updating the pattern should AUTOMATICALLY update the components. That's the point of having a library.

Alex, can you comment on whether or not work is actively being done to correct this issue? It really hinders custom part creation and is probably one of the single biggest problems (in my opinion) with using DT. I'm constantly building my library of approved parts and spend a lot of time manually updating everything when a pattern changes.

+1 for the automatic update (forward propagation through all modules).

Even this previously-suggested manual method would help save a lot of time and pain --> http://www.diptrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10495

I'm the new one who faced this task to uptate a lot of patterns. This is a surprise that I did'nt find a simple option like "Update patterns".
Please add this usable feature!
