How can I manually route a ratwire while sharing part of an existing routed trace which is on the same net?

I have a very simple case where one net includes three pins (2 ratwires). First, I successfully manually route one ratwire. Next, I would like to share/overlap part of that trace while manually routing the remaining ratwire. When I start routing the ratwire at a pin (left mouse click), and move the mouse over the trace I'd like to share, that trace lights up. Good so far, but when I click a node, routing stops and nothing was routed. I am left with the unrouted ratwire the same as when I began.

After some experimentation (including F12 while routing), it seems that DipTrace does not let me share existing traces. I can successfully route the remaining ratwire only by avoiding the existing trace (which essentially forces me to create a completely unsatisfactory route), then going back and editing the trace, moving it to share the first trace (a real pain).

This is a big problem for me. How can I tell DipTrace to please share the existing traces on the same net?

After coming from Eagle and just beginning with DipTrace, I am generally very pleased with DipTrace. Except Eagle handled this type of situation with ease, so I am wondering if there is something I am missing here.

Thank you.

Do you have problems with T-style traces in PCB Layout? It always works fine. Could you send an example file to support at diptrace dot com?
Notice, if you route a trace from a pin to an existing trace, the trace highlights if you approach enough to join two traces. Does it happen in your case?

Yes, the problem is with what could be called T-traces. However the shared part has multiple segments.

Yes, the existing same-net trace highlights as you mention.

By the way, I did not mention it, but I am starting the manual route from the "center" pin of the T, where one of the ratwires has already been routed to it. In this case, DipTrace will not let me put the new trace over the existing trace (the one I want to share with) automatically or by single-click.

However, I later discovered, I can double-click to force down a new trace node on top of the existing trace (could not find this documented). This can be error prone though, since I need to click at exactly the right spot (imagine that I have 0.001 inch grid) to get the traces to overlap perfectly.

Later, I discovered that if I instead begin routing from the remaining unrouted pin, then everything works fine.

Perhaps I just need to learn how the software works. If I see something that doe not seem right, I'll send a file to support.
