Hi,

I am suffering with printer problem in Layout almost same as viewtopic.php?t=185. There is no problem in Schematic. I also used printer in Layout two days ago. Now, Layout doesn't recognize printer. I used PDFCreator to print layout to PDF file. However, none of printers is found by Layout now. I can't export layout to an image file since Print Preview fails at beginning due to missing printer.

Sincerely
Alper

Hi,

When you open print preview are there any objects outside of printing area? Please try to create test layout with single object inside of printing area and print it out.

Hi,

Interestingly, after some PCB Layout and Windows restart, it recognized printer. Then I restarted my Windows again and PCB Layout didn't find any printer. It is not possible to open preview due to error message at the beginning. When I click OK, preview closes.

If you open "File/ Titles and Sheet setup" and click on "Print Settings" button, are there available printers there?
If nothing can help you, you can install any virtual PDF printer and save a design to PDF file. Then printout PDF file from Acrobat reader.

When I click that button, same error box appears. I can't see available printers.

I used virtual PDF printer (called PDFCreator) to print layouts befor printer problem. Actually, there isn't any physical printer (nor over network) connected to my computer. PCB Layout doesn't recognise virtual PDF printer too.

If there are no other printer in system except PDFCreator, it may be a problem with that virtual printer. You can reinstall it or try another one.
We did experiments in our office but we could reproduce the problem.

I will try to reinstall PDF printer again. I will notify you.

But, it is interesting that only Layout doesn't find printer, Schematic and other installed softwares (MS Word, Notepad etc.) find printer.

Hi,

I did a PCB last week and all printed fine, no problems with printers.

Today I've tried to print a new PCB and have the 'no printers found' window.

After some head scratching I remembered what has changed.

I removed Norton antivirus and installed Comodo internet security,

Looking at the logs, in the Comodo Defence+ section, all windows access requests from PCB.exe have been blocked, but right clicking on all the blocked actions to set the file as safe and should be allowed give a response that Comode thinks the program is deemed safe already but it still blocks all window requests.

I disabled Comodo Defence+ and my printers came back into PCB edit.

At the moment i do not know how to tell Comodo not to block any windows calls from PCB.exe

Hope this is a help to others and that maybe others can find a way to tell Comodo not to block the calls.

It seems that many anti-something software generally don't trust the diptrace stuff. Avast does not like them either. Is that fixable somehow? At least diptrace users are probably fairly it-literate and thus not scared away by silly AV warnings...

Comodo and Avast are the ones who block our software. It is easy to add DipTrace to exception list in Avast, but Comodo is really painful software.
We will try to fix this issue in future. Thanks.
