Tracecpm,
I have used the poly pads and they work well for off center.
the only clearance that is important is the apex of the round part of the pad to another, so if these peaks are parallel to each other, then the shape becomes insignificant: as long as min clearance is maintained. I like to offset pads to keep as much room between and behind so I can run traces between when need be.
Using the Poly pad set up takes a little time, but you only need to set up one pad, then rotate them separately as needed. It would be nice to have an offset function on pad setup for all pads.
It must be that I don't know how to make poly pads correctly. The only way I know is to use the polygon tool to create a crude shape on the signal layer and then convert that shape to a pad. I don't even know how to create a curve or an arc using the polygon tool. Can you point me to the proper method for creating poly pads? Or could you e-mail me a library that contains some poly pads that you have created?
Thanks.

Is anyone in Technical Support able to tell me how to create polygons that are ovals?
