In PCB Layout some components move when I update from schematic. This corrupts the placement of precisely placed connectors and other components and trashes the layout in those areas. I place dimensions on the critical components so I can see where they are. The dimensions don't move with the component. To make sure everything is in the correct place I have to delete and re-place all of the dimensions on all critical components every time I update from the schematic. I end up not being completely sure of the placement and spending lots of time checking and rechecking placements. How can I stop this. Version 2.1.0.7

This also happened to me in version 2.1.0.8? So I updated to 2.2 to see if it fixed it, it didn't. It took creating a pcb from the original schematic before the problem would go away, It was obviously some disarrangement of data in the schematic, or pcb.

We have never released 2.1.0.8. If you have problem in ver.2.2rc, please send pcb and schematic files to us. Without these files we can't fix the problem.

Sorry, but I can't send the schematic. It is my customer's IP and very strictly protected. I'll try to reproduce the problem with a seperate test schematic.

Just out of curiosity, are the components locked? It is always a good idea to lock precisely placed components as soon as you have checked the location.

The problem may be components copied-pasted in one of betas - we had the bug with duplicated component hidden identifiers. The way to work around is updating by RefDes only or to replace incorrect components in Schematic.

I lock critical component placements. During the update it will ask if you want to update locked components. I'm always torn on which way to go with this. If I say yes, there there is the possibility I will adversly affect a locked component. If I say no, I worry about losing changes I want. I don't know what the software will and will not update on a locked component. Are net changes updated on connections to locked components? Either way, I would think the software wouldn't want to, or need to change placement location. If the component footprint has changed to the point where it is necessary to move the component, I would hope the software would warn you, and maybe offer you a couple of placement options. One item that may help you find the cause of my problem is that the component that I've had the most peoblem with is a connector placed at a angle of 12 deg counter clockwise from vertical. It always seems to go back to vertical and move a bit to the right.
