Where are the component pads?

#1 Post by joedarock » 20 Jun 2017, 08:20

When I open a component in the pattern editor, all I see is the silk outline, but no pads. If I pass the cursor over where a pad should be, it shows up in red until I move the cursor away. How can I make all the pads visible?

1) Open the PCB Layout editor, click on View in the Main Menu and choose Colors... in the drop-down menu.
2) Check the color selected for "Through pads, Traces (by default)". If it's the same as the color chosen for "Background", there's your problem.
3) For any color changes to take effect you will have to completely close and then re-open DipTrace.
Hope this helps.

That was it Tom.

Very un-intuitive that you have to go to the PCB Editor in order to select layer colors for the Pattern Editor. Also weird that it doesn't take effect until a restart. A pop-up notification about that would have been nice.

I'm constantly confused about the Library part of DipTrace. Everything else is very intuitive and easy to use, but this part seems like it was developed by a different team.

Just in case you haven't seen it, a thread entitled "Setting up libraries - a mini-guide" is located here http://www.diptrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10937, which gives some basic information about DipTrace library management. After reading that, see this thread explaining forward propagation in DipTrace - http://www.diptrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11277. If you need more information, feel free to ask. There are plenty of knowledgeable contributors on this board.
