Share / zip all files

#1 Post by Whyrly » 04 May 2017, 13:42

Hello all,

We're working with remote engineers and we want to share files that we are all making, but it's been hard to keep things organized in the main office vs remote.
If we update our library patterns and symbols, those changes don't get propagated.

Is there a function to 'collect' all the components and files into one location/zip file?

How can we ensure we have all the files and parts needed to open/work on a file remotely?

Did I just miss this in the help menu?

Regards,
S

The solution that I've found for this is to use Dropbox.
Make a directory structure that works for you to contain your libraries, 3D models and your project directories(.lib & .eli files). Then share that directory structure with your users.
All changes are updated in real-time and are always current.
Obviously, you will need to ensure that your users do not try to *edit* the same file simultaneously. But when sharing files, you will always have that issue to contend with no matter what solution you choose.

Unfortunately that's not idea because we use currently have one library 'drive' that also contains all of the part PDFs, cad files, purchasing spreadsheets etc. A drive which is currently at over 20gb, and not something we are inclined to share with people who don't need it.
Much of it is also parameterized reference charts which is our part of our core business edge.

Even if the current file could produce a list of the parts referenced and file names needed to be collected.

Although a script to put all the parts in a single library would be superb!
