I have just gone to use diptrace ( freeversion) ans schematic and pcb layout take 4 minutes to load and run. This was all fine on 19 june when i last used this. I have tried reinstalling v2.0 and 2.1 ( 64 bit) to no avail. I have also done a system restore back a week ( the farthest i could go which is prior to the last 2 bits of software i installed).

I can boot off another drive into xp and that install works fine.

also how do i get to the dialogue box that askes for openGL etc as this popped up once and I was wondering if this was to do with the issue but I cant get it back to allow me to alter it.

Well I solved this one. If your default printer is a network printer and it is off line then when diptrace starts up it ( or win7) tries to contact the printer over the net work and takes about 4 minutes to time out. I changed my default printer to a local one , which actually said offline and diptrace started up as normal.

Note to developers: If possible, make it so startup does not hang in this situation. If the startup has to hang for some reason, put up a "waiting for printer" dialog box after a few seconds of waiting.
