Gerber Generation

#1 Post by borealbound » 21 Sep 2017, 04:54

I have a QFN pattern with a large square thermal relief in the center. When I rotate this component 45 degrees in the layout, I see all the pads rotate properly in the layout. When I preview the gerber layer containing this pattern, it also shows all patterns correctly rotated. However, after I generate the gerber file, the center pad is not rotated. Please see attached PDF showing images. One thing to note is that the center square pad of interest does not use the pattern's Pad Properties (in order to make its dimensions differ from the rest). If I change this pad to use the pattern's Pad Properties, it will look just like the other pads, and I see no issue with rotation in the gerber.

My concerns are:

1. Why does the generated gerber not match the preview?
2. How can I fix this problem?

Hi Andrew,
What Gerber viewer do you use?
Some CAM software(s) do not handle macros with rotation. Few users have problem with manufactured boards because of that. This is not DipTrace fault but we have to change Gerber export to avoid such problem.
