Unless I am doing something wrong, it looks like the DipTrace Gerber import tool (v3.0.0.2 and B3.1) has a bug that is changing oval objects to ellipses. Here is how to see this behavior...
1) Export gerber files from a PCB that has a pattern with oval pads (use attached PCB file named "oval.dip" below).
2) Open a new, blank PCB layout and import the new gerber files.
3) Observe that the oval-shaped pads and any other related oval objects (e.g. Solder Mask) are now ellipses.
4) Looking at the same gerbers in Pentalogix ViewMate shows the correct oval-shaped objects.

This is not bug exactly. As you know, DipTrace doesn't support oval shapes but it supports ellipses. If users import a Gerber file and enable "Pads in Signal Layers" option then oval shapes are converted to oval pads. But if the option is disabled then oval shapes are converted to ellipses as most similar shape from available in the software.

Hi Alex,
That works for pads, but the Top Mask still imports as ellipses. Do you have any suggestions for importing Top Mask ovals?
Thanks in advance for your help.
