The handling of the Gerber/Drill export leaves some room for improvement.
Firstly, while Gerber and N/C-Drill is the de facto standard for PCB manufacturing, you have to go through both exports dialogs separately each time again and again.
Secondly, when using "export all", you have to affirm the overwriting of each file separately - there's not even a "yes to all" option.

Also I'd wish there was an option to store an export template (for a project and/or in a global template), so you could easily create the same export with the same options etc. for a project even if another project needs different options.

In an ideal world, you would press export, then you would be asked if you want the same standard template as used the last time for this project (e.g. Gerber + NC-Drill with all the layers etc. defined in the template) you would need to affirm overwriting only once.

In addition, I'd like to request that you could save a list of Gerber export file names in the template. The default filenames are very descriptive, but a couple of the PCB fabrication houses I use will automatically detect Gerber file types if I give them specific names.

Thanks for your consideration.

I second this request. You should be able to press "Export All" and have all your Gerbers that you default to have exported each time go with one click. It would be super awesome if you could also include the NC Drills File as part of this process. Once you get it setup then you can just "Export All" and have all your gerbers and drill file in one place.

I love Diptrace however when exporting the "NC Drill" file you should be able to automatically have it named the same as your project. You should also be able to specify an extension (*.XLN, *.TXT) etc. As it stands right now it is a cumbersome (but habit inducing) process to export your project. If this could be simplified it would be a huge bonus.

Current Steps and clicks Required for 2-layer board (at least 17):
1. File-> Export -> Gerber
2. Click Export All
3. Select Directory and Click OK for first file(1)
4. Click OK (2)
5. Click OK (3)
6. Click OK (4)
7. Click OK (5)
8. Click OK (6)
9. Click OK (7)
10. Close Gerber export window
11. File->Export->NC Drill
12. Click Export All
13. "Do you wish to set tools automatically?" Click OK
14. Either type the name of your file (as its blank) or click on an existing gerber you exported and change the extension by typing in a new one
15. Click OK
16. Use windows explorer to find your Gerbers and manually change the extension of your NC Drill file because it adds an extension (*.DRL) which isn't used by every fab and you have to manually rename/delete this!
17. Zip files and send to your fab house or gerber viewer etc.

It would be great if you could set your preferences (extensions, directory) for you want to export (Gerbers + NC Drill File) and just click OK once. Similar to Eagle's CAM processor.

Any chance that this request will ever be implemented? In 2.4.0.2 the behavior is still the same.

It is neccessary to use properly some manufucturers depending on the project.
Most manufucturer accept a similar gerber format but it is slightly different.
Now I'm reffering to following "Gerber Export!!!" topic every time.
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=9828

Storing an export setting as template will be helpful for the production control
and information exchange about a recommended setting between diptrace users.
