Dear Gurus, up till now I have been using the Microchip 18F2520. But a new design needs the Microchip 18F25k22.
Maybe there is a newer version of the microchip.eli or maybe it exists in an external library?.

My questions are simple.
Q1.Should I make it and put it in my own little library?
Q2.Or should I (try to )put it in the Microchip.eli library?
Q3. Will the schematic be of interest to anyone else?

Bye and thanks
Fred

It is better to put custom parts in own library. Standard libraries will be overwritten while next software updates.
You can upload custom libraries on the forum: viewforum.php?f=19

I find the following scheme to work quite well:

I have four classes of libraries

First are the libraries that come with diptrace. I never edit them or add delete parts. I assume that whenever I update diptrace, some of those parts will change, more parts will be added, etc.

Second I have the libraries I make myself. These only change when I change them. Some are built from scratch. Some are slight modifications of existing libraries. I add a special 4-letter designator (_PDQ, but could be anything) to the end of every part I make so there are never name duplications.

Third, I have a collection of libraries others have shared. I copy parts from them to my personal library and double check every detail before using them

Finally, whenever I send a board out to be made, I create a custom library that contains just the parts that are used on that board. This gets archived along with the version of Diptrace (minus libraries) I used to make the board. That way if someday I have to make a change, I can do so with the same library and the same program I used to make the board -- no surprises.
