Post subject:  Component where not all leads connect to header pattern

I created a custom component using an Adafruit Powerboost 1000C LiPo charger module. It has an array of 8 holes on one side that matches with a stock 1x8x2.54 header pattern. However, my custom schematic uses only 5 of these pins, and in addition has 2 other pins that don't go through the header at all (these are 'flying lead' connections from the PCB to the module)

Unfortunately, DipTrace pattern editor insists on connecting all the pinouts from the schematic symbol to the header pattern, even after I have manually removed the pin number from my 'flying lead' pins.

Any idea how to manage this problem?

TIA,

Frank

If you aren't worried about soldering to every pin on the header, maybe you could try making a custom pattern with two mounting holes in place of the two unused pads...

Hmm, so not use a stock header as a template? That might work, but is more work...
