I made a pattern for a surface mount current shunt. It has a large square pad at each end with a thin rectangular pad overlayed on each for the current sensing connection. The problem is that DipTrace complains that the pads have zero space between them. I have had similar problems with other components such as mini fuse holders that have two pins connected together at each end requiring a rectangular pad with two holes (2 pins connected together).
Any suggestions on dealing with such components?
The shunt is DigiKey YAG4103CT-ND, 0.002 ohm, 5W (Yageo PU5931FKMT50R002L)
The fuse holder is DigiKey 36-3568-ND

You may be over-thinking the solution. (Or am I under-thinking it?) I believe all you need is a two-pad pattern. How you handle the schematic symbol is another story, of course. For the fuse holder, try a four-pad pattern.
