Ok, someone else surely must have run into this problem of not being able to see or edit the font to the refDes property on a pattern. I would like to see it as I'm creating the pattern then i would like to change the font. Can this be done? I really hope so because up until now I'm really liking DipTrace.
thanks
O.

No. This is one item on an old list of DipTrace annoyances that has been frequently mentioned on this forum.

Here's a partial wish-list of sorts for improvements that I feel need to be made to the Pattern Editor...
1) Use a unified pattern/component database to automatically keep components in sync with any pattern changes.
2) Allow RefDes and other markings to be precisely-positioned and modified in the Pattern Editor to help minimize PCB layout time.
3) Add a Thermal Vias tool.
4) Add an Opacity adjustment for every layer.
5) Add Layers and Objects switches.
6) Add pop-up hints to the Layers panel (see #5 above) to describe the function of each layer (e.g. hovering over Top Mask brings up "Top Solder Mask opening").

Thanks Tom. I guess I'll be spending quite a bit of time in layout fiddling around with refDes positioning and font adjustments.
