I am new at using DipTrace and am working through the tutorial. In the "Placing Pads" section of "Designing a pattern library", when I use the Place Pad tool the pad looks like a line when it should be a circle. What have I missed.
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter

When you place a pad, does it look like a rectangular, solid surface-mounting pad rather than a doughnut shaped through-the-hole pad? It might be because you have a surface-mount pattern selected and it is using the default setting for that part. If you choose a through-the-hole component from the list on the left and then try to enter a pad, does it change shape to the round one?

In other words, the place a pad button will choose what style of pad to place depending on the current part type: surface mount or through-the-hole. A quick way to change styles is to open/expand the Pattern Properties dialogue on the left hand side (if it isn't opened already) and then click the Pad Properties button. In the resulting dialogue choose your pad type from the drop-down choices there.

Or I might be right off base, in which case, someone else better answer this!
