Hi,

I have been playing around with Diptrace, so far I really like it, very easy to use.
One feature I seem to be missing is reverse annotation from a PCB design to a schematic.
Is this possible with diptrace?
I mean a situation when you design a circuit board first, and then you want to make a schematic out of it.

I tried the back annotation function in SCH but it does not seem to do anything.

Regards,

Conversion layout to schematic is complex feature. We may do it in future but we may don't because we have a lot of other good features in the list.
Back annotation updates reference designators, net names, net classes in schematic from layout, but it doesn't create new schematic from scratch.

I'm interested in a subset of this feature. Specifically, it would be very useful for me if I could define nets in the PCB editor, then backannotate them into the schematic.

I'm working on a PCB where it would be much easier to just draw traces (or ratlines), then have the schematic updated to reflect the traces I made. The other way is tedious and requires a bunch of planning. This pins goes to that pin ...

Any ideas?

Back annotation feature synchronizes layout and schematic. But it shouldn't create new nets and components.
We consider full-featured conversion board to schematic. If we decide to implement this feature, this will be solution for ones who design layout before schematic.

Alex,

This would be an interesting feature, at least to me.
You could draw the PCB first based on an existing one, and then just "reverse annotate" and create a schematic automatically based on this.
Great piece of software by the way!!

Regards,

Bela

Agreed. Simply the ability to export to a netlist from PCB Layout would be marvelous. This netlist could then be reimported into Schematic Capture to create the schematic post-hoc.

That would definetly make this my app of choice. I use eagle and I'm just sad with it :( latest version made me run away.

Make the download PCB in the schematic...
