Hi.

i am having a strange problem with the new via style feature in diptrace3d

It seems that there will always be one via named "Default" which is fine. And i have no issues with that. But i always prefer to have my own Via names... anyways.

I created 3 new via style names :

a. SmallVIA. ID=0.3, OD=0.7
b. RegVIA. ID=0.5, OD=1
c. BigVIA ID=1, OD=2

Now, my via styles menu shows 4 types of via.

However, during layout process, i sometimes change my schematic and then i have to renew the design from schematic again, mostly by pressing, CTRL+ALT+U

but once i do that i find wierd stuff. Every time i renew my design, one new via style is created. Now sometimes i have noted that it is by the name "default" and sometimes it is by the name "Viastyles[1]" or Viastyle[2] or so on.
And each time it happens, vias associated with one of the types that i had created are reassigned to this newly created via type. And what is worse is that this new via type has the exact same dimensions as the default via type. Always!!!

Now this is extremely irritating, since now i have to verify and reassign all the vias once again. Because many times this causes DRC errors since bigger vias come in place of smaller vias.

Is there any known fix to this problem.

I have added the two screenshots before and after pressing CTRL+ALT+U

I have also added my schematic and PCB layout. It is still not complete but you will notice that compared to the layout, i have added another resistor R12 in the schematic. Now if i renew the design from the schematic, the via styles are changed.

Need help fast!

Udit

It looks like you have outdated beta version. I remember we fixed this bug, so please update build to avoid this bug.

Thanks,... i am downloading the latest beta version as we talk now. However, do i have to uninstall the previous diptrace beta for the new install?

also, what happens to the library files. I have some custom libraries that i use all the time.

Besides, can i easily (with no problem) open some PCbs i have created using the previous beta?

Uninstall is not necessary.

ALWAYS store your own libraries/components in different place. Do not add components to standard libraries - they will be overwritten.

Yes, of course. Binary formats are always forward compatible. For backward compatibility use DipTrace ASCII.
