Offset in Gerber and drill files

#1 Post by steve65 » 16 Sep 2017, 15:15

In the PCB Layout module both the Export Gerber X2 panel and the Export N/C Drill panel have X and Y offset fields. The board I am working on has both of those fields on both configuration panels filled in with 10.008mm.

Is there something important about 10.008mm? As far as I know, I did not enter that value into those fields. If I did, it was accidental.

Do I need an offset at all? Why not just use the "Use Design Origin" option offered in both export panels?

The lower left of my board is at coordinates 0, 0.

Thanks.

There is nothing special in 10.008 value. You can set "Use Design Origin" to disable X/Y offset.
Offset may be needed in rare cases, it is better to have possibility to change it than don't have it.
