Can I mark pins as externally connected?

#1 Post by ks0ze » 21 Mar 2017, 13:43

I am developing an interface/breakout board between that will be connected to a Raspberry Pi Zero and an Altera FPGA Dev Board. Each of the mating boards brings out several of its own GND and VCC pins. Since these nets are connected on the RasPi/FPGA boards I don't really need them all tied together on my board; however I can't find a way to mark them as connected externally (thus preventing ratlines between various GNDs/VCCs broken out by external boards). Is there any way to do this in DipTrace?

There is no way to mark some pins as externally connected. If you don't want to tie them all together you can add one more signal layer and route connections between externally connected pins on the layer. Of course, you don't need to export this layer to gerber.
