Hello, when schematic is made hierarchical using repetitive blocks of the same module depicted in sheet2 , should the File->"design information" utility show the cumulative number of all the components and pins? Should this info be compound?
Say, sheet2 has 5 components, it is used 10 times as 10 blocks on the main sheet, then should it show 50 components?
I get a strange number - cannot figure out how it is calculated...
Please let me know how "design info" suppose to work for hierarchy of sheets...
Thanks in advance

Are you confused by the numbers to the right of the Components and Parts descriptors in the Schematic Information box? I am. I have included a simple example below. Can anyone shed some light on the meaning of those numbers? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, Tomg, the numbers I was interested are components and parts and in my schematic they don't make sense however I tried to guess what was taken into account... neither help, tutorial nor "training" docs provided any details on how is it calculated in case of hierarchy (or even simple multi-sheet design ?) ...
As a "work around" we can simply ignore this utility but since it's already there it could be VERY VERY helpful if it were working right...
Can anybody explain?

Schematic program counts incorrect numbers of components, pins and nets for hierarchical schematic. This is because program unpacks hierarchy at the time of conversion schematic to board. Thus you can know correct design information when you convert hierarchical schematic to board (in case all components have attached patterns).

Will DipTrace be fixing this Schematic Editor bug?

Yes, Diptrace provides Multi-Level Hierarchical Schematics. Schematic Capture is an advanced circuit design tool with support of multi-sheet and multi-level hierarchical schematics.
