Here's my problem : let's say I lay down a 8-pin DIP IC package, then run a trace from pin#1 to pin #8 underneath the component, instead of routing around the component. . When I say underneath it doesn't mean on the opposite layer, the trace is on the same layer as the component. Now let's say I change my mind and want to delete that trace, I can't do that because I can't highlight the trace, if I hover my mouse over that trace and left click the DIP IC component always gets selected, instead of the trace.

Is there a solution to this problem? I don't feel like temporarily moving the component aside, delete the trace then drag the component back into place.

Activate the Edit Traces tool before attempting to work on the traces between the component's pins.

Select the 'Objects' tab, use the dropdown and select 'Selection Only' and uncheck 'Patterns' (and, as needed, anything else that might be in the way) here:

The two suggestions above work! Thanks guys.

By the way I just realized that this thread should have been in the DipTrace PCB Layout forum, not Schematic Forum. Apology for misplacing thread.
