Hi all, I have a circuit that will use the LM1117 3.3v regulator in a TO-220 package. I have searched the library and have not found this specific component. The LM1117s that I did find are surface mount. Is this component available?

I am using DIPTRACE v2.4.0.2 for Windows.

Thank you, Sgarciav

The Texas Instruments LM1117T-3.3 in the TO-220-3 package is available at Digi-Key. See the following link...
http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/LM1117T-3.3%2FNOPB/LM1117T-3.3%2FNOPB-ND/363593
The datasheet seems to have vanished from the Texas Instruments site, so it is possible that TI might be phasing out this product in favor of others. Email them to find out. If so, then Digi-Key's current stock (see above link) could be New Old Stock with potential availability problems for large production runs. I had to get the datasheet from the University of Texas site here - http://users.ece.utexas.edu/~valvano/Datasheets/LM1117.pdf

There doesn't appear to be an LM1117T-3.3 in the standard DipTrace libraries, but it should be pretty easy to create your own. Just copy the National Semiconductor LM317T from the standard library into your custom library and change the appropriate labels and names. It looks like the package and pinouts are identical to the TO-220-3 version of the LM1117T-3.3.

Thanks Tom!

As I needed the PCB done by yesterday I just went ahead and took the existing 7805 component, changed its attributes and pin assignments and used that. I did not know that the LM317T had the same pinout. Knowing that I would have used that instead.

Regards.
