We thought it would be helpful to add a post with more information about how turn times are calculated as it also relates to shipping and a desired delivery date.

For those who have ordered from BAC within the Diptrace application, you'll notice that you can select a turn time of either 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 days. Turn time can be defined as the number of days we, the manufacturer, will use to produce and ship your PCBs. So, how does BAC calculate turn time? The day your order is placed is what we call "Day 0" and the day following your order date is "Day 1". Not all manufacturers operate this way but it works best for us and our customers like it because we don't need to implement a cut-off time for orders. In other words, we don't care what time of day your order was placed, the order date will count as Day 0 and production will begin the following day.

So, let's say you place an order with a 5 day turn on a Wednesday. What day will the order ship?

Day 0 = Wed
Day 1 = Thu
Day 2 = Fri
Day 3 = Mon
Day 4 = Tue
Day 5 = Wed

The order will ship the following Wednesday. (Our normal business days are Mon-Fri so we don't count weekend days but we're often running on weekends and do strive to ship orders early whenever possible.)

So, you understand turn time but you need your order in hand on a specific day, so how do you factor in shipping?

There are two standard shipping options available; USPS Priority Mail and USPS Priority Mail Express. Priority Mail delivers in 1, 2 or 3 business days based on where the package starts (Fremont, CA) and where its being sent. Priority Mail Express is an expedited option which is advertised by USPS as Overnight Service to *most* U.S. locations. We would encourage you to confirm with USPS whether your location is available for Overnight Service prior to selecting this option.

Alternatively, we can ship your order with FedEx or UPS - either on your account or ours (billed back to you). If you desire a more reliable shipping method we would encourage you to go this route. Just drop us a note while placing the order and we'll follow up with you to confirm.

In the future, we hope to have more shipping options with real-time quoting integrated into the order process. When this service was launched it was simplest to provide the USPS flat-rate options currently offered.

Hopefully this helps provide some insight into the turn time and shipping process so that you can accurately calculate a delivery date. If you're ever wish to confirm shipping/delivery prior to placing an order please don't hesitate to contact us by emailing support[@]bacircuits.com and we'll be glad to assist.
