DipTrace 3.0 Release

#1 Post by novarm44 » 10 Mar 2016, 12:18

Hi All,

We have released DipTrace 3.0 today. Please download it from http://diptrace.com/download-diptrace/
The list of new features if compare to 2.4: http://diptrace.com/diptrace-software/whats-new/

If compare to 3.0 beta:
1. We have found and fixed many bugs in new features (several days stress-test before this release did not show critical bugs, some things still may be polished though).
2. Read-only files now work as expected.
3. Manufacturer item has been added to BOM.

The price of 3.0 was raised: now Full Edition costs $1195 (+$300), Extended - $695 (+$100) and Standard - $395 (+$50). Upgrade prices for Full and Extended at the moment are the same as upgrade to 2.x, but they will be raised to 25% of new license price at March 31, 2016.

What about the nearest plans:
1. Native 64-bit version of 3.0 (now and before it is only 64-bit installer for compatibility).
2. Adding length match rule, length comparing screen, layer stack-up and meander objects.
3. Adding hotkey to switch units on the fly in any window and number of other small, but frequently-requested features.
4. Adding Eagle XML and Altium import/export (currently both in process).

Just request support for a new key if you are about Non-Profit Lite. For higher non-profit editions upgrade costs 25% of the price.

Wondering which version of XQuartz is required for the Mac? The link points to V2.7.6 while the latest XQuartz version is V2.7.8.

I have been using a full version of 2.X and just downloaded and installed 3.0. I went to the link and paid for the upgrade and got an email confirmation of receipt but what happens next?

Trying to install on the Mac 10.11.3 and I just get the icon flash once and then nothing.

Never mind. I deleted the DipTrace Application Support folders and it started up.
A bit of a pain that both versions use the same support folders. The original version overwrites the new version's settings.

Also found that it is necessary to have DipTrace in the Applications directory when installing it.
This is probably a permissions issue.

Typically, you will receive another, more detailed email from them in about 3 to 4 hours.

How do we install the Mac 3D library? The current download is an .exe file.

That is great news about Altium import.

I have a handful of designs in Altium that I was considering re-doing schematic capture, layout, etc in Diptrace so I can maintain them (can't afford Altium). Even Altium won't allow full Altium version designs to be imported into their lower-cost tools - or at least they wouldn't a year ago when I spoke with the Altium rep.

I've been playing around a little bit with the free version, but now I'll get serious on doing a new full (small) design in Diptrace and then make a purchase decision. I'm not aware of anyone doing Altium import, so this is great news!

Thanks!
