Hi
Currently editing a component that has through holes, however i want the pad to be only on the BOTTOM layer of the board and not a through plated hole with top layer!

The options in pad properties are, through hole (plated both sides and through hole)

and surface ( just top surface and no hole! )

so how do i get a hole and bottom layer pad only?

Thanks
Andrew

Hi!

On the Thru-Hole(Highlighted)...

Right-Click ---> Select "Pad Layers..." in the Popup Window.

then Select only "Bottom"(with option)

Switch to top layer, right click on through-hole pad and choose "Hide pad ring in layer".

By the way, "Pad Layers" was developed for making blind-buried pads, but may be used for making pads with hole on bottom layer.

Hi all -I found this thread while trying to do the same thing.

Only difference is that I wanted to make a surface mount pad on the bottom layer only.

There seems to be no obvious way to do it, but the workaround I used is to make a through hole pad using the above directions and then set the hole diameter to 0.

Hopefully this is useful to someone!

Changing a through-hole pad into a surface mount pad
1) Right-click on pad and select Pad Properties... in the pop-up menu. Or just select the pad and shift your attention over to the upper-right side of the screen and make your changes under the Properties tab.
2) In the Pad dialog window, uncheck Use Pattern's Pad Properties and choose Surface in the Type: drop-down list.
3) Select OK.
4) To change sides, right-click on surface mount pad and select Change Side in the pop-up menu.

Assigning pad defaults in the Pattern Editor
Expand the Pattern Properties dialog window and click on the Pad Properties button to set your pad defaults.

Assigning pad defaults in the PCB Layout Editor
1) Go to the main menu and select Objects and then in the drop-down menu select Place Pad. (Or, go to the Elements toolbar and click on the Place Pad icon.)
2) Now shift your attention to the Place Pad panel at the upper-right side of the screen and, under the Properties tab, set your pad defaults.
