The first post about this subject was in 2010 but my question is simple:
Will QFN parts like CY7C65634 with .25mm X .4mm pads have balling issues on the non-rounded inside land? The recommanded land is .6 with .2 (.4 with both sides) outside the 5X5 body. My concern is having to create custom shapes for the stencil reducing the material at the inside area.
Thanks.

They look oval to me. Would oval pads help?...

Round, square or odd shape doesn't seem to mater: http://cds.linear.com/docs/en/packaging ... _UHE28.pdf Linear's whole line is the same, devices built with 'D' metal pads (Yes it is a pad name now) in plastic or ceramic bodies and the recommended lands being rectangles. I can not remember seeing 'D' shaped land patterns, the only one I've found was for a U-QFN3030-16(Type B) and it is a huge device .350mm X .6mm :)

I for one will follow Linear's suggestion and just use rectangles unless someone has information of issues.
