For a Mediaplyer for my Autistic Son I needed a few robust buttons.
I could not find buttons in a certain size, so I decided to create my own. When you push or tap the front side of the button, you will get an impulse of +-1sec.The piezo will generated a small impulse, which is amplified by a transistor. A Ne555 in monostable mode gives me a 1sec impulse.

Thanks for sharing you Big Piezo Button design and installation video.
How you have decided the size of this button? What is the specific reason of doing this? Why you don't want to go with default size button for mediaplyer?

I appreciate the problem. May I suggest you have a look at the Azoteq capacitive touch sensors. They cost next to nothing, can run on batteries "forever", and with the size you show, will have no problems implementing a very robust switch. If you decide to play with these and need some help, drop me a note.
