The pattern associated with a component is difficult to determine across entire toolset. After 3 years of using Diptrace, this is my #1 problem with your toolset!!

Knowing what pattern is being used is a critical matter. Knowing which library contains the pattern is critical. But look at what I have to do to see the pattern name associated with a component.

In the Schematic Editor...
After loading a schematic, I have to right click on then component.
Then select "Properties" in menu.
Then click on Pattern button.
Then look at top of window to see name of "active pattern" (which is often clipped off and unreadable) due to limited text field length.
Cannot you eliminate all these clicks and windows to view the pattern name and associated library?
IMPORTANT: And there is no way to see the pattern library name that the "active" pattern was retrieved from. So how do I readily locate the pattern to make changes. It's a horribly slow search and guessing experience via the pattern editor and correlating the name with what I see in the Schematic Editor. Egads!

In the Component Editor...
After loading a component library, I select a component in the left pane.
Then I click on the menu and menu item: Component | Attached Pattern...
Then I can view the "active" pattern name in the center of the popup window.
Cannot you eliminate all these clicks and windows to view the pattern name and associated library?

It's a horribly slow search and guessing experience via the pattern editor and correlating the name with what I see in the Schematic Editor. Egads!

In the Layout Editor...
After loading layout, I right click on a component.
There does not seem to be a way to view the name of the "active" pattern associated with the component.
Egads!

I hope your software designers can address these basic problems soon.

Doing a 'File Export Diptrace ASCII' of one of the standard example files that come with Diptrace,
I noticed in my text editor, that the variable 'LibPath' is not set.

(LibPath "")

instead of (for example)

(LibPath "C:\Program Files\DipTrace\Lib\_General.lib")

If the LibPath isn't set, there is no way to see the corresponding pattern library in the dialog field.

Not sure, if this behave to files created from the actual v2.3.0.0 (seems not?) or only to files created with older versions.

However, It would be nice if the developers could improve this issue.

Udo

Udo --

I output my layout using File Export Diptrace ASCII as you suggested.
I then located...
(LibPath "C:\Program!Files\DipTrace\Lib\_discrete.eli")

The ! mark is puzzling in the path (shown above).

But I never had issues locating my libraries using Schematic Editor and other Diptrace tools. So I think my library path is working OK.
